The intentions were to create ideas about future changes in my city
Mumbai being a metropolitan city has its own set of challenges every year, one of the biggest being poor drainage/Gutter system and clogged streetscape which leads to water floods every year. Almost everyone knows and witnesses this but despite the action taken, sadly the situation still remains unchanged. This challenge allowed us to focus on the micro-scale design for the streetscape by implementing minimal design elements/installations on the street level, which helps us achieve adaptive reuse pockets.

Three crucial issues are being addressed throughout the season. Water being the major source of blessing during monsoons could serve a purpose instead of being a problem. And can be conserved on a greater scale to be utilized throughout the year to serve various purposes. By installing these custom-made products, we can attempt to address this in a more sustainable fashion.

A quick study was carried out during this lockdown to notice, study and understand the present conditions of the streetscape. Issues were identified on an annual basis, prioritize and categorize as per the authority of control in order to establish a link between the proposed ideas that can be further worked out under the authority of control. Reuse and reutilize dead spaces and propose the design ideas with maximum efficiency - Adaptive reuse.
